Default Car shaking after new clutch install???

so i just finished my build. has resurfaced stock flywheel on an f-1 stage 3 clutch. after about the first 10 miles on the motor and clutch, the car began to shake...not in 1st but in 2nd - 4th and stopped in 5th. its a pretty brutal shake and im in both my clutch and motor break in period. is this normal in early break in period.

for all you ls-t guys. i had my block bored .020 over to 81.5mm, stock sleeves, golden eagle block guard, srp 8.5:1 pistons, h beam rods. everything balanced. has anyone had a similar setup with a bored out ls block still on stock sleeves and boosted over 12 pounds?

Just trying to get an idea of what my power level should be while not having to worry about blowng my recent rebuilt up.

thanks -chris-

No, ive never heard of this kinda issue after an engine rebuild. Just finished my brothers DA with a similar setup but with 9:1 pistons... why did you go so low comp? Planning on really high boost?

Anyway, are you sure its not suspension related and not an engine problem? Maybe you missed a mount or something?

happened to me with my 6 puck stage 2 clutch, it was a father & sons (the most aggressive stage 2 clutches ive tried), the break in was around 500 miles or so. car would shake terribly on 1st and 2nd.

a motor mount broke because of such aggressiveness. then again i had 1 mount broken already.

it should go away within 500 miles or so.

could be that 1 or more mounts are broken in your car.

well when we put the motor back in the car, the lower mounts weren't in top shape, however, i bought energy suspension mounts for the lower 3...tranny, lower near a/c, and firewall rear. the uppers looked alright. the shaking goes away if i let off sometimes and doesnt always happen.

does it feel like the front tires just hop when your letting off the clutch in first gear?

no 1st gear is fine for the most part. trying to keep everything under 3k revs. it starts to shake in 2nd and is the worst in 3rd gear. we did everything ourselves from putting the clutch and throw out bearings in, to reinstalling the tranny and mounting the motor back in place with polyurethane inserts. it feels like one of the transaxles is "bumping" or hopping every rotation. could this just be the pressure plate trying to surface itself?

Did you make sure the axles were all good before you installed them? Sometimes if you reef on them too much you can pull them out of there joints. Check all your mounts and make sure you didnt miss a bolt or something. I have ES bushing inserts as well on the bottom 3 torque mounts and blew one out last week. Its a good idea to replace the mounts themselves if they look torn or worn out FYI

Also, as far as break in periods are concerned i talked to an Exedy rep after i installed my clutch to verify proper break in period and he said besides the chatter in first gear (3 puck stage 2 racing clutch) just not to reach full torque for about 500 miles until you are certain the disk has had time to break in without glazing Didnt say anything about any type of intense vibrations.

yeah worn motor mounts can cause really bad wheel hop.

just let it break in, i mean you don't have a DD clutch. stage 3's can be very very aggressive.

like i said before. let it break in around 500 miles.

i replaced both cv axles less than a eyar ago and they looked in good shape, no leaks in the boot, or anything...looked fine. the shaking seems beyond the motor mounts. at constand 10% throttle at 1.5k -2.5k it shakes. i dont really know how to explain it well but the entire car rattles pretty hard. also, my abs light came on so i refilled my reservoir with d3 brake fluid but wasnt thinking on all 4 cylinders and put a little in my power steering....:-0 will that be ok or should i flush it out?

I would flush you ps system after that lol. Oh well, we all have brain farts sometimes. Thats really odd, hopefully its not a transmission related problem.

SOLUTION!

it was the shock. when we put the motor in, we lifted the car up and dropped it on the motor. but we left the wheels on. my car is slammed all the way where my tires did my fender roll for me...lol but anyways i think that since we dicked around for a lil combined with the shock being all the way out with no pressure inside made it go out...especially when we set it back down after being on the jack for 5 hrs. but we think its the struts...thanks though guys
