Default Tokico ILLUMINA or Tokico HP / h&r sport springs

So I have a daily driver 00 civic that I put H&R srpings on ages ago, and I am now finally getting around to replacing the struts.

Was just wounder if the Tokico ILLUMINA are worth getting?

I was a comfortable sport ride. Nothing to aggressive, I just want to be able to change lanes with quick ease, take on and off ramps with out getting nervous, and have fun on the back roads by my house.
But I also dont want a loud crappy ride.

Do the HP blues pretty much give you that? or should I get the Illumina to set it up for that?
Plus what settings should I set the Illumina's too? I have read somewhere that the rear should be stiffer than the front?? seems a little odd, perhaps someone could explain that for me...

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I am very **** about my car, and the way it drives. Wish I could test the HP's and Illumina's out first

Lastly I have found the
Illumina's for 375 on ebay
HP blues for 255 on ebay

Dont really want to go to ebay for something like shocks anyother place someone could suggest. Tokico has lifetime warranty dont they? anyone had to warranty theirs? can I really get a new set in 5 ..10 years? or does it only cover defect? or something like that....

sorry for all the q's ... Thanks for the help.

Illumina's all the way. HP's are just revalved stock replacements.

I purchased my Illumina's brand new off eBay with zero problems.

illuminas FTW, look into the kyb agx's. I have them on my ej8 paired with GC's and they perform pretty good. Just took my car to the canyons yesternight and i was happy with the outcome.

I have H&Rs and HP Blues. The blues in the back wore out and the hatch was bouncing all over the place expecially on the ramps and truck grooves on the highways. I tried to get warranty coverage but it is done through the "authorized reseller" that you bought them through. Other wise you are out of luck. I replaced them with some KYB GR2s. Ride is smooth and no more bouncing. I don't put a lot of miles on my car and don't have anything in the back so I don't know why they wore out so quick. I imagine that if the HPs are not really performance shocks then the springs just wore it out. So you should get some sport shocks and not deal with the HPs. Do buy from a dealer local to you if you want to be able to use the warranty.

I have illuminas, just got them done, one thing I do not like is I have a rattle on one side when I go over a rough patch...I have adjusted to "5" in the front, and "3" in the back, got the adjustable ones.
One thing I was dissapointed about was that I bought the coilover kit labeled as a "complete coilover system" but still had to take the upper mounts off the old stock units to complete the job. If I had to do it again, I would buy a set that comes fully assembled.

yes i bought illuminas off of ebay and that transaction was the sole reason
I don't use ebay anymore. the struts blew within a few months, and then
the whole warranty thing tokico won't cover you, so the ebay seller screws
you over. for tokico ... never had any problems with anything
i ever bought for my car except for those struts.

You can't buy NEW coilovers that are fully assembled.

So you need to disassemble the used strut assembly which blows because it would be nice to just rip out the old stuff and put in the nice new "set".

I thought the Tokico Illuminas have a lifetime warranty?!

you can do a couple things here. My brother had some KYB AGX struts with Eibach pro kit springs and it rode like a champ.... if you want something slightly more sporty on handling. I have K Sport Kontrol Pro 36 way adjustable coilovers... you can get them for around 6-700 I had them on my EK hatch but when I get my Sol I customed them onto the Sol..... I woulda bought some new ones but they don't make them for Del Sols

for $700 I'd rather have koni's.

36 way adjustable is overkill for most anyone. Few drivers can outdrive koni's.

It's not the assembly that I transferred, it's the upper mount. everything else is new.

Well been driven on em for awhile...

after I got the olds one out I found all four corner had varying resistance. One Really bad one.

No wounder it handled like crap...

90k put on lowered springs and stock shocks/struts....

Well It handles much much better now..

#2 all four corners for when I have my dog in the car....

#3 front #4/5 rear.. for when I want to have fun...

FF stiff rear make car oversteering slightly in corners. LOVE IT!@

I hate FF cars... nothin but understeer in the corners.. I like to give a car gas and have it go around a corner. ....

But I need commuter car... = Honda

That all being said.. car is 100% better.. very please with Tokico adjustable whiteys

The last thing I ever purchased off ebay was Illuminas. That is the sole
reason why I havent bought anything from ebay since. Those shocks
blew in less than 4 months. Tokico, the name sounds cool but they
suck. No warranty, no customer support. Tokico

I do believe the Illuminas have a lifetime warranty.

So if they go bad.. I will go down to a local store buy one, then warranty it.

But mine are fine so far....
