ok so ive always wanted to buy one. i like the look of hatchbacks and this one has always caught my eye. my questio is this, i see some for like 9500 with 70000+ miles some as high as 150000 miles which i could get a really good deal on. Do you recommend getting one, and what are common problems with the cars. thanks guys

Try the DC5/EP3 forum. This is EM2, ES1, ES2 forum.

Well most common problem is worn synchroes in the transmission, which will cause 2nd and 3rd gear grinds. I would hunt for one that is within the 30,000 to 80,000 mile range. You can find some awesome deals on ephatch.com for these cars. A lot of people selling them for cheap. Not to mention it's the best website for any information on this car.

Only reason to get one with a 150,000 on it, and that is if you are planning on swapping ASAP.

just sold mine, 2002 with 68k on it for 8500 with bolt ons and rims and tires/lowered.
id look for a bone stock one
lots of people have tranny grinds but i never had any. best tranny feel ever imo
creaking steering racks from being lowered more than 2in in the front is common.
people complained of the handling/suspension on them but with a high quality suspension it will be fine....mugen ss, buddyclub, progress, etc.
never had any problems with mine and i do miss it already,...its only been 2 days

QFT. 150k+ miles = time to drop another $4-5k and get a k20a2/k24a2 swap for it.

There was a thread recently asking about the pros/cons of an EP3, I would look around for it if I were you. If I find the link again, I'll edit and post it.
