Default Boosted-R Owners and FI Guru's..

So.. Boost has gone through my mind lately and I've been talking to a couple of people about it... Anyways to get to the point - The debate is whether to run an ITR tranny or another tranny. For some people that don't quite understand what I'm talking about saying ' Run an ITR tranny! No **** sherlock.' I've been told the ITR tranny is too short for boost, possible myth ?

I don't know maybe this post will settle it once and for all !

depends on how much hp you have. i have a b16 trannie which has the same gears as an itr on my 400whp bosted integra. the gears are way to short. it only has traction in 4th and 5th gear. 1-3rd are useless. so yeah a ls tranny would be nice.

but if you had a tiny turbo andmade a weak 250whp than a short gear itr tranny would help make up for the low hp

it depends what you wanna use the car for, so your redline, tire size etc will all come into play.

for example i use a gsr tranny in my drag car because with my 225/50/15 tires and redline i come across the finish line at 9000 rpms in 4th gear.so for me its perfect.

my buddy uses the itr tranny in his drag car but runs either 235/60/15 tires or 24.5" slicks with are both taller than what i run and shifts his car higher than i do.

IMO i think the ls tranny is just geared to long for any performance application.

I was boosted with the stock ITR tranny and loved it. There was no longer a need for me to get the final drive swap with more power.

A friend of mine had 585whp on a stock Type-R transmission... He ran 10.3 with it. I think he could have dipped into high 9s with a built LS transmission, but he sold the car before anyone could find out.

Here's a video of his first night/day at the track in the car. You've got to love breaking traction going into 5th gear with 24" slicks, haha.

Myself personally, I'm boosting on stock transmission. I'm only going to be making 250whp, so it'll be fine.

im boosted with itr tranny.. 500whp and very lil traction 1-3rd gear... itr tranny is useless.. depends on what you want to do.. if your not going to try to make big power i would stick with the itr... otherwise....

With 500whp, even an LS transmission with a long final would be "Useless" first-third... It's a FWD Honda, ****'s going to spin with power.

Doucher... great join the Jon D bandwagon.

I'm pretty much done with it. I'm flying home in a few days to get assembly under way. Should be 100% done within 2 months or so. Just depends on how quick I get this parts over here in Japan and ship them home. As for what it is... you will have to wait an see.

Watching it right now... Pretty impressive writing. Chris Hanson did a good job on this one. I wonder why they can't find me? It's not like I'm hiding. Dumbasses.

EDIT: Doucher, you spelt it wrong... You're thinking of C-SPAN, and MSNBC... Der der der.

realy depends on hp.. average turbo setup should be fine with itr gearing, if you're making tons of hp then you'll get a bit more traction with longer gears..
