) Nevertheless, I wish you miles and miles of endless ribbons to ride.

i don't even know what the heck those stickers are. the only one im familliar with is the alpine star. nevertheless, it came like that so i don't care. im planning to flat black the whole thing again and add in a red wings of honda picture on the tank.
anyways, would this be a good beginner jacket? i hear bad things about mesh. but im kinda broke. and as you can see, my 250cc is just my training bike.

feel free to recommend me a jacket under $250 (mainly under $200)
thanks

Joe Rocket is a reputable brand. Just don't forget to wear it everytime you ride. No excuses. And be sure to check out the beginners thread on top of the motorcycel forum. A LOT of outstanding info on there.
yea, i've been brousing soo many beginner FAQ's before i bought this bike. Heard a lot about icon being a more of a brand that people buy to keep the street look, but it lacks in protection. lookin towards joe rocket and frank thomas (b/c my friend went down with a frank thoman and only had bruises.) alpinestar is too rich for me at the moment.

A* TZ1 jackets are dime a dozen all over ebay. Very quality jacket. That was my 1st leather jacket. If you get more expensive jackets you're paying mostly for design and comfort. The only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't well ventilated for those hot summer days and also that the impact armor on the shoulders and elbows weren't padded much which was actually quite comfortable but lacked in the "incase ****" department.

and i wanted to say. you know sometimes, when your on a small street, IN A CAR and your waiting for the cars to pass so you can cross a lane to make a LEFT turn to merge onto that big street? you ever notice a car comming, and you hesitate on whether to wait for them to pass you, or to just go?
well anyways i was riding down a street at around 45. And there was a dodge truck up ahead, to the right of me, getting ready to cross my lane so that he could merge into the traffic going my opposite direction. He came foward a bit but then hesitated. But as i got a tad closer he rushed into the street in front of me. However he didn't just blow through, he rushed into the street and then hesitated, and blocked my lane and the lane to my right. The civic to my right honked. While i was praying for my brakes to stop me. luckily i slowed down to about 10mph at about 20 feet from him. so i took a fresh breath of relief, the truck continued along like nothing happened.
i started thinking. shoot, i slowed down just perfectly. i shouldv'e let my bike hit him at like, 15mph. sure i'd fall off. but maybe, just maybe. i get some money from him to get a new bike.
eh. figured it'd be his fault. crossed my mind.

People turning left in front of bikers is the #1 cause of death. Learn to emergency brake using the front and rear brakes. Short of an endo, the rear brake help tremendously to slow down. Keep your shoulders square, keep your chin up, and looks straight ahead while doing it.

That is the worst mentality to have. Both for your physical safety and morally. So you hit him and end up losing a leg, arm, eye, etc. Will any amount of $$ be worth any of that?

Ditto what he says. You can have an accident at 80 and not get a scratch and you can get an injury at 10mph. Never know.
And theres no predicting what the other approaching cars will do after you hit him. They may not see you either. Or the guy with the truck may decide to try to back over you afterwards. Strange but it happens. Moral issues aside its better to stay up on your tires.

i don't think i would go as far as to say an arm or a leg, but i get what you're saying. You never know what might happen.

good point. Thanks for the replies guys. You know. In the short time i've been riding, since 7/17/07, i've been in a few close calls already. Every one of them involving someone in a car driving like an *******. I've come to realize how seriously dangerous this sport is, and the risks we motorcyclists have to take each day. Even as me on just a 250cc. Oh well, im sure gonna keep riding and learning. Happy and safe riding to everyone.
