Default NOOB just bought his first bike

Hi Everyone,

I just bought a 1990 Yamaha FZR 600 today as my first bike. I took the MSF and M1 endorsement last summer and I haven't touched a bike since. So I am a little rusty. I signed up for skillzday.com and I bought all the gear before I bought the bike.

Anytips for a noob like myself? I am just practicing in parking lots and my street. Just doing regular gear changes and U-Turns.

You've taken the right steps for learning so big for that. Just take your time, slowly work your way up with around town riding. I like to be very defensive when riding and watch for people who aren't paying attention or might cut me off. You'll start to notice things like that. Oh and since you're in Cali I'd be easy with any lane splitting until you're more comfortable on the bike. Ride safe

Start moving out to roads around your neighborhood and branch out, soon you'll be riding everywhere.

Here are some pictures of the bike. Actually only certain parts. These were taken with my cell phone camera so sorry about the quality and the blurriness. My hands were trembling from excitement after the ride. Can someone tell me what this hose that I am holding is for. For some reason it isn't attached to anything.

best advice, slow down and look at EVERY intersection, stop lights, stop signs, yields, everything. People dont see us and that is the most dangerous place for a rider. People like to lefts in front of us.

Sounds like youve taken a LOT of GREAT steps to being a safe rider that will contribute positively to our community.

Keep the sticky side down.
