If I was to paint my AP1 wheels (because I can't afford others) what would you guys think of that? Good idea or no? BTW my S is Silverstone with Black-Red interior.

i painted mine black kept the centercaps silver..came out great

 

Did you keep the lip silver?

 

Powdercoat > Painting

 

Im considering doing the same thing to my AP1 wheels. Saw it on a set of AP2 on a suzuka like mine and thought it looked dope.

I agree that if you can, get them powdercoated, but if youre on a tight budget... use lots of clear coat and hope for the best. Post pics if you do it!

 

Yeah I have someone who can do a hell of a job on them. He's done countless wheels and valvecovers that are all well done.

If I do it I'll def post pics.

 

My opinion, don't paint them white!
Gun metall, black or bronz is much better on a silver car

 

dude don't paint your wheels at all, they look so much better stock, you ruin them by making them black or any other color......if you MUST paint them go with the ITR gunmetal, my vote is leave them stock, save your time and money and buy rims later. By the way your car is great looking as is.

Im considering on painting mine bronze and not having center caps i have seen it done and imo it looked good it was on a berlina black ap1

 

i tried keepin the lip silver and i got one wheel done and it came out good but up close you could see the little imprefections from the tape line so i went ahead and painted everything.

White on the stock wheel looks bad IMO, and to top it off it's paint which makes it not only a bad idea, it's horrible!

i agree white on stock ap1 will look nasty. nasty in a bad way lol

 

i just got my AP2 wheels powder coated ( charcoal grey ) for 250 dollars and left the center caps alone and it turned out amazing!!!

 

cost me 30 bucks duplacolor wheel paint did it 3 months ago and they still look like they were painted yesterday. woot

 

yeah I'm over doing white now. I should edit the post...

but you did a good job.

 

I have always liked the look of the black powder coated stock rims.
