Default Transmission Question.

A few months back i some how managed to rip the rear T bracket out of the back of the transmission. i had it welded once but it broke a few weeks later. id rather just replace the transmission case but what im wondering is do i need an ITR transmission case for my ITR transmission. or will any b series transmission case work?

you can use a 94+ gsr case with no problem. If you use a Hydro b16 case or LS integra case you may need to modify the stiffening ridges around the differential inside the case. Most of the obd1 b16 and b18b cases have thicker ribs that will hit the larger bodied ITR or GSR differentials as their diffs are smaller in diameter. Most obd2 cases are bigger inside to compensate for using either diff from the factory. You will want to use the shift forks that go with your gear packs as the 3-4 fork is a different size from LS'. Good luck!

Or buy a new Type-R casing for a shade over $300.

Soichiro's way
If you come check this topic out again, maye you can help me out.

I have an s4c in which i belive that someone stuck ls internals in there.
Ive been counting teeth and they match up to an ls

my question, is the 3/4 sleeve, and shift fork wider in a gsr and s4c, in compairison to an ls 3/4 sleeve/ shift fork setup?

If i remember right, the ls used a slimmer, not as wide shift fork and sleeve, but i figured i would ask an expert.

Yes - the LS 3/4 fork and respective synchro sleeve are smaller than Vtec models i.e., b16, gsr, Itr/Ctr.

Another way to tell is to look at the 3/4 hub itself. The one thats on the shaft with the dog gears. ( as viewed with the tranny sitting on a bench) A vtec hub has an upsidedown U shaped gate on the hub to keep the synchro from traveling up into 4th gear. On an Ls the "U" is upright like you would read here. Also all vtec 3rds have a stopper plate washer at the bottom of the gear.
