Default getting tires mounted on painted wheels

I am having new tires mounted on painted wheels. Should I use some painters tape to mask off the lip of the wheels and maybe even more. Thanks in advance for your input

Hell yes! Crazy Dave got his Mini Rims messed up when he got new tires put on. He went to Tire Kingdom on Woodruff so stay away from there. They put several nics in the lip and took a chunk out of the paint on one of the spokes. I would tape them up with several layers and stand there and watch them mount your tires.

A competent tire shop with the proper equipment and expertise won't mess up the wheels. An incompetent place will damage them even if you put tape on the wheels.
