That was the longest run-on sentence I've seen for a while.
What do you want out of the car? Is it going to be a DD, show car, race car, auto-x car? I could throw brand names and engine codes at you all day, but that won't be the "right" thing to do.

well sence your in the EF erra form im assumming you want a 88-91 model hatch, you can pick up, and build a pretty nice one for 5g. You should look around for one under 1500, then do research and come up with what you want to do with your car
well i have been told that a 90 too 91 hatch si is the best to get i want it to be my dd but i wanna take it to the drag strip and run somewhat good times 1/8 mile strip but it must be able to pass smog like i said i dont know if year even makes a difference since im a total nub and i know it probley does haha
The one with no doors I belive is 90, and the other one is an 86. If you plan on dooing a motor swap I belive the d16a1 is a direct bolt up(correcte me when I make an error), it is like a dohc zc but diff.

You're both wrong and right, depending on your frame of reference. The only DOHC ZC that is similar to the D16A1 is the "brown-top" version; these will not bolt into a 4th gen Civic or 2nd Gen CRX chassis without fabrication. They will fit in the 3rd gen Civics / 1st gen CRXs though. The more common "Black-top" DOHC ZC is not the same as the D16A1 but is a direct bolt-in to vehicles that this forum covers.

You need to start researching on your own my young friend. Read the FAQ section, there's tons of good info for you in there.
