Default h22 vs turbo

im coming into about 3-4000 dollars and was thinking of either turboing or swapping out my engine...i have a 1994 accord ex coupe, f22b1, wit only 89k...but im looking for the best option reliability wise... i hear that h22's break down and have problems with gaskets...on the other hand..eventho my engine has pretty low miles it is sill a 94 and the engine is aged...the engine is very clean tho...any ideas of what would be the best way to go?

Where did you hear that misinformation abut h22's? I would say swap it, you will have a lot more problems with gaskets and other parts when you boost it. All the parts that are old or need replacing WILL break and/or need replacing once you boost. Theres a lot more to worry about when boosting, you have to be sure you do things right and find a tuner who is competent. Swapping to an h22 is more reliable IMO, plus your power gains will be more than enough

swapping a h22 in will be more money and will take more time.

F motors have NO MORE or less problems with "gaskets" (I assume you mean headgaskets).... than the H motor... Ive had both... have a very built h22 now, and dolar for dollar (which IS the subject of this thread), you cant beat turboing the f for he money. Trust me, I changed quite a few minds with my boosted f.... 305/307 all day long. BONE ******* STOCK. For considerably less than an H swap.....

Now... untill you come up with a viable example of f motors having "gasket" problems shut up.

Buddy...</TD></TR></TABLE>

Holy **** man are you a complete retard? Read my thread. Read the first thread. I at no point said there was a problem with ANY gasket! H22 or F22...in fact if you READ a little bit I did write that h22's DO NOT have problems with gaskets, that was the misinformation in the first thread (not posted by me). But I am aware that gaskets in either motor could have a higher chance of failure under boost, and if you want a viable example, well my rear main seal and oil pan gasket had to be replaced because oil was leaking everywhere after tuning my h22 under 5lbs of boost! So there's my proof. I had absolutely no problems with any gasket in my f22 and when I did the h22 swap, I had no problems with any gasket with that motor running stock...but as soon as I went boost, 2 gaskets were finished...now does that strike me as just a coincidence or does that make any sense to you?

Sounds like good numbers, how much boost was he running? As for the ringlands yes that is definetely a weak point of boosting the H, and also its the smartest thing you have added to this thread....way to go buddy!

Boosting the F series would get my vote too. You would be very pleased with a decent turbo kit, fuel management, and tuning... IMO.

I was running 335whp/ 279ft. lbs. on a stock motor with nothing more than a custom turbo kit, fuel management, bigger injector, and a fuel pump. Would have pushed those numbers higher but the injectors were maxed out and static (450cc).
