Default Question...

Ok. i relize my name is mustang man, and i may get flamed/banned for that, but i just made it to ask a question.

I'm watching Tricked Out (a show on DIY network) and this guy is tuning a civic (like a CRX, rounder, i guess) doing weight reduction..., gave details of the car, some Honda Vtec B20, stuff that i don't know what it means, big turbo, claims it makes 400hp to the wheels... well, I'm watching, and it started at 2400 lbs, and they ended up dropping about 325 lbs, so they put that amount in sandbags in the car and run it, and then run it without, and then with drag radials

Remember this is 400+hp, on an 1/8th mile

2400 lbs =11.94
-325 lbs= 11.20
drag radials = 9.40

what i want to know, is, does this guy just suck at driving? because 400whp should provide much better times than that, because theres also a CRX that goes to my track with LESS engine mods(i think its almost stock, no turbo), about the same weight reductions, and nitrous who runs 7s consitently

just wondering what you all think...

That's probably about right. I'd imagine a civic with that much power would start to pull harder and harder down the track due to traction issues. I've seen a civic with around that much hp hit a high 10 second quarter mile.

i think you are talking 1/4 mile.

its also possible the crappy show made a mistake and said eighth mile.

then again, your memory kinda sucks. first you thought it was a crx, then you were positive it was 1/8th mile, and then you corrected yourself and stated it was an EG.

a stock engined EG hatch could run an eighth mile at around 10 seconds.

so with 400hp and all that weight removed, i think those were 1/4 mile runs.

EDIT: i read the article, and they mentioned 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile.
