What's my ITR worth?
Just got it back up and running. Previous owner blew the head gasket so I got a complete 98 Spec JDM itr swap for it. It's a 2000, clean title, everything is stock except for the Password CF Intake and Apexi WSII exhaust. 63k miles on the chassis and around 40k on the motor. Does the car lose a lot of value w/o the original drive train even though it has been replaced w/ pretty much the same (if not better) setup? TIA
If the car were bone stock with 63k miles and no mods you could fetch 16-18k for it. The motor swap and the mods take away from the value. I would say as it sits you could get 14-15k (16k if your really lucky). Thats if the car is as clean as it looks in the pictures.

I agree. You should get anywhere between 13-15k and it all depends on how long are you willing to wait for the right buyer.

^ Yea, I would have said 13k-15k but I have seen some ITRs with salvage and "other" titles with a little more miles and not as clean fetching around 13k so I gave the benfit the doubt of 14k-15k. When you get into the 16k your looking at clean title itrs with around 70k+ miles and relatively clean all around. 17k ITRs are usually really clean and either bone stock or very nicely modded with under 60k miles. The color also adds or takes away from the price. By the the biggest demand is for the CW, then from what I have seen the Black, lastly the PYs. So you can adjust prices accordingly. Also keep in mind the little things such as tuneups, how many owners, receipts (window sticker), accessories all add or take away slightly.
The head gasket was blown and you did a swap??? Why?
Yes, IMO the value of the caR dropped because of that. Like the others said, maybe around $15k, more if you find the right buyer who wants a JDM motor anyways. Clean *** R though, inside and out
EDIT: Do you still have the original motor hanging around?

Exactly, although his reason could be 100% true its still fishy. Same with JDM Front R's; makes people think why you would tear apart a perfectly good R to do a jdm swap for no reason. It also dosn't help that every time someone gets into an accident the first thing said is "JDM FRONT TIME".

i agree with what they all said. For me, i prefer the jdm swap if it has all the paper worked and done the right way...but again, some just like it the way it is with no modified. It all depends on the person buying your ITR...GL man

The original motor was resleeved, fully built, and turbo'd. I didn't want go through the hassle of tearing it all down and rebuilding it w/ the possibility something could be warped. Call me old fashioned but I like to keep it OEM as possible, especially when it comes to the engine and it's internals. Also the owner wanted 5k for the blown engine. It was cheaper and a lot less hassle to get the JDM swap.

Original motor was parted out and sold by the original owner. I think I would have lost value either way since people would say the original motor was rebuilt. I know if I was looking for an ITR I'd rather have a stock engine than one that had been rebuilt by someone other than Honda.

Well, I guess that's a good reason for a swap
Personally I'd probably prefer a clean JDM swap over a turblowd original with a questionable build.
The caR still looks in great condition regardless of the swap.
Assuming the motor is healthy (good compression/leakdown) and the tranny shifts smooth, I'd hold fairly firm to the upper end of the $14-15k range, maybe even ask $16,500 if the JDM motor is documented. The longer you can hold out against the low-ballers, the better chance of finding the right buyer. Good luck!
