Why would honda do this anyway? Is it because these cars are made in Canada?

That's good.
It makes sense. Instead of making two different gauges, you can use the same one for Canadian ( + rest of the world) and American market.
And good if you travel up to Canada or down to US from Canada.

I've seen GM cars with this function years ago.

yeah the button is next to the trip reset button. I think you have to hold it down for a sec. All speedos have km/h and mph. They do it because people go to canand from america and vise versa

everybody in this forum should read their owners manuals before they post topics such as this one.

The car comes with a large book of words explaining all the functions of it for a reason

You don't have to watch your speed much in Germany. Even in town they haul a$$.

Yeah but some of the people, myself included, need large print words, with simple illustrations. The one Honda supplies is for high tech V-TeCh gradyeeated 6th graders, not us kindergartners.

^^ I see

I dont think anything could get much more in your face than a button on your dash that says MPH/KMPH

ALL cars in the US have KMH as well as MPH... usually the numbers are just smaller under the mph numbers on a traditional analog speedo.

I was driving a Cadillac DHS last week and you can switch it to KMH and it switches both the analog and digital speedo to KMH
