vss with cable cluster swap out vss?

vss with cable cluster swap out vss?
i have a j1 trans that i will be using with my b18c5 (until i can find better) the question is
where my ys1 trans had the speedo cable plug into .. the j1 has a electric devise... this i assume is called the vss?
can i just take ou thte electric one and place my b18a1 in? instead of taking it out of the car?
