94 teg or 2000 celica gts
94 integra LS with 90k miles is only $7000 including ttl, new paint and tint, or a 2000 celica gts with 100k is $10800 including ttl(all my money).both cars are in decent shape. would 4 grand in mods(mods that would would not jeperdize relibility, or emissions test) make the teg a better car for canyon runs, with some auto x and stoplight drag. yes the gts is faster, but i care more about the overall feel/driver involvement like that of a 911. mainly what i'm concerned about is the reliability of the gts over 100K (i plan on keeping the car for at least a few years after college at least. i don't have cash for costly repairs since i'm in college. also, are gts's easy to work on like tegs, and is there a theft problem with just a clean ls integra with wheels but no exaust...will have full coverage under parents, but still...and before someone asks, yes they are both stick. i know this is a honda site but please try to keep your answers objective, thanks!
p.s. how much for a gs-r or type r swap by itself, as well as one that is installed?

I dont have a technical anwer for you, but if it was me I'd take the Celica I like the way they look. Plus its a newer car so it should be eaiser to find parts for and Toyota's last a long time just like honda's but thats just my opinion. Do what u gotta do. I just bought a 92 Integra RS and I love it.

o and if you want to spend 10g's on toyota id might as well go with a used type r integra ive seen lots of cheap type r's you just have to be painent and no where to look ive seen a jdm type r for 8g's was salvage but o well i saw a 99 type r for 10g's clean title all original
I am a huge Toyota fan, but I would still get the Integra, especially if you are planning on modding it. Engine modifications are easier, in general, on OBD1 cars, and selection of aftermarket parts is going to be a bit bigger for the Integra. The newer GTS will probably be a bit easier to work on the suspension. However the Integra has a better suspension design stock, and only gets better when adding performance parts. Other than that both cars will be similar to work on.
You should find out if the timing belt has been changed on the Integra, though. With your budget and what you want from the car, a turbo is a bit out of reach, but you can still have a corner carving beast within your budget.
As a side note, either these cars are getting harder to find, or prices are inflated out there. I paid 6800 for a '94 GS-R with 100K about 4 years ago.

first of all a 94 integra for 7000 is a rip off!
toyota has never impressed me when it came feel of the cars. imo their boring to drive. however, even in my little 88 civic, i felt really connected to the car/road
integra is an amazing car for the money, very peppy, awesome handling and great feel for the car. i cant comment on the gts because ive never driven one, but since its toyota'ss sports car, it should feel decent.

I've only ridden in a celica GT '02 I think. Its was a decent car overall, but the celicas in general I find feel a bit more hollow than the integra. I just kept thinking that things felt plasticy and not as solid. They are good cars though. No one can argue with toyotas reliability. I'd just take the integra over it...and I did.
yea 7000 for an ls isn't good, just keep looking like these guys said.. my 01 gs-r with 75k on it was like 6800... lady didn't know what she had. patience will find you a much better deal.
back to topic... i personally love my integra, i wouldn't want anything else, just go with what YOU like the best. integra is going to be easier and cheaper to mod/fix but a celica is still a nice car and both cars would be fun to have, your good so long as you steer away from mitsubishi

i say 7k because after paint brakes CV axle and tint it will come to that. the actual price of the car is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$4750, and that includes tax title and license

Keep looking if you still have to dump that much money into it...I just bought a 96 GSR with a JDM ITR engine for $3500...plus its clean! Theres deals out there..keep looking. That extra few thousand youre going to throw in for repairs will be a waste of money.
Toyota's are nice cars...thats all they are, NICE. If you want to modify your car, go with a Honda.

the GTS is a good car, seeing as it pushes 190hp such and such. but i think its just what u like as in which style... id never buy a toyota unless it was a supra or a mr2. i do love my integra, they are really the sleepers and creepers. they have great potential to make power and thats what ppl dont see and thats what i love. its a surprise in a box when u have a good motor >:]
the GTS only push are rated at 180hp, and only put around 170ish to the wheels. I have driven both of these vehicles before and in my opinion I would definately go for the Teg. It has many more miles on its life...where as the GTS who knows how long it might last....as far as working on it the GTS really blows to work on...I had to help a friend rebuild her GTS engine and replace a clutch and that was a pain in my opinion compaired to doing the same on a Teg...but that is just my two cents worth...plus you can use the diff in prices to get a few more mods for the Teg if you desire....
my sister has a celica and i wasn't to impressed with it. the power felt weak then again the only integra i driven was powered by a stock b20, it was quick as hell
stylistically i like them both ut i would go with the teg

Ok, this thread is starting to get derailed by assumptions. I have been driving Hondas for a long time, but to call them more reliable than Toyotas is just ridiculous. In fact, basing reliability on who made the car in general is a bad idea. That being said, I have seen lots more Toyotas with 200K on the clock than Hondas. Obviously who owned the car during its life is more important than who built it. Especially with Hondas becoming more popular with teenagers that think they are a deity's chariot then drive and maintain them like total retards.
For a real life example, my second car was an '86 Tercel 4WD with 205K on it when I bought it. I was still a stupid teenage driver then, so it definitely did not have an easy life with me, but it still made it to 226K before I retired it for a five speed Corolla. My current car, an '89 Prelude with 132K, has many more problems as far as exhaust, suspension, and the engine runs pretty rich.
I still stand by my previous post that you should get the Integra for the reasons I stated in my previous post. (I have owned every generation of Integra, except for the "RSX" and all have been VERY good to me)
But to say you should get the Integra over the Celica just because it will be more reliable is pure hearsay, especially considering the Celica is newer. If you were to say that either of these cars would be more reliable than, say, an '87 Volvo 740, I would have no objections...

Stick with an integra. Celicas are slow and ugly. I hate their interiors too. Plus just like their tv comercials used to say, "they just look fast"
