main relay ok....now what?
Ok, so I had the typical main relay symptoms:
-wouldnt start for 5-8 tries when hot/humid
-clock, gas/temp gauges flicker, speedo/tach work intermitently
-car would shut off for a split second while driving
-pull the main relay, resolder all points (figure I've done two climate controls so, no prob) put the main relay back in....now I have no fuel pump priming, no gauges/fans/etc when key is in the "ON" position (have radio at ACC), but car starts right up (turns over everytime), just wont stay running after it turns over
-so I'm like "crap, fried my relay when resoldering", if thats possible, but I pull it again and run by my mechanic's at lunch to bench test it (better when you have 4 hands). went right down the punch list: positive to "_" terminal, negative to "_" terminal, check for continuity on poles "_" and "_". performed all 3 combinations and it came out shining. went home and plugged it back in before heading back to work....same thing, radio @ ACC, nothing @ ON, starts but wont stay running.
-so, give me some opinions on where to start next, I'm gonna start going down the troubleshooting list in the helms, but I'm leaning toward ignition switch or some wire in my alarm got pulled?!?! any input appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
K
