Many people on this forum suggested swapping dizzy's with a friend to see if it was the cause of a particular problem.....

My question is about the timing of the car putting the dizzy on. If I take a dizzy off a friends car after marking it (to put back in correct place) and I put it on the car being tested, will that mess up the timing of the car or is having the timing close enough okay.

Having the timing close enough for a short amount of time is perfectly fine.

 

Mark before removal on both cars.

Swap it out just for testing purposes, then put em back where ya found em.

im an idiot, when I took my dizzy off after marking it, i decided to clean off the oil and accidently erased the marking on the dizzy. time to bring out the timing gun?
