window tint and radio reception
hi all, got my windows tinted and this killied my radio reception...feedback...is it the tint, did the installer f something up and/or is there a "workaround"? thx
That's what my tint guy told me when he put tint on mine. I hardly ever listen to radio because I always listen to my CD and Ipod. But when I do listen to radio, everything is clear, didn't notice any problems. Maybe for the Nav, radio goes through the same little attenna as the navigation? And guys without the nav has it built in inside of the back window?
But yeah to answer your question, my tint guy offered carbon tint saying it will not effect the radio if I install that on my car. And with regular tint he says it will block the radio reception if the attenna is built inside the window. But I got the regular tint anyway.

I got my windows tinted and it didn't cause any problems. Then again IDK what kind they use or if they cut around the antenna
I've heard its the "Metalized tint" that causes the bad reception due to the antenna being inside the rear window. If you get a different type of tint, like someone said carbon, it shouldnt effect the reception. I would definitely ask the tint installer guy before he starts, fo sho!
