Default Quick Release

Hey all, not to sure if anyone has done this yet but i was at a local get together and i happen to win a Personal steering wheel. So i decided to buy a hub adapter and a quick release and make this my next mod. I have done steering wheels before but for having an air bag this was one of the easiest. took me 45 minutes to install and i think it looks pretty awesome. Let me know what you think.......VSA lights stay on as well as the AIRABG light which i was expecting. Here are some pics, enjoy.

What's the point to this mod?

Not trying to be an ***, just genuinely curious. To me, it just looks like you ripped the steering wheel out of an outdated civic and put it in yours.

Oh man, this almost made me vomit. You just made your Si's interior look like a old Derby car. I can see why it was free

I would like to do this but I would like to see a unit that can adapt to the stock wheel. Granted the airbag still may not work but the radio controls are important :D

I do agree it looks a little ricey. I would keep the stock OG one, has all the controls.

Whatever tickles your pickel +1 on the install.

You do understand that the wheel is stock sized correct.

Thanks everyone for your comments positive and negative. To each his own and again it was free... i am thinking about trading someone for a similar wheel that is black with red stitching.

Typical responses.

Hater Tech to the rescue!

Not MY response..Not my taste. Stock one looks better to me. And I love the controls. But to each his own

It used to be just for track cars. You could take the wheel off to get in around the roll cage/race seat, etc. Especially helped in an emergency.

People give away things for a reason, I give away CRAP all the time. Doesn't mean I'd take someone else's CRAP and install it onto my car.

does it bring your steering wheel closer to your body? or is it around the same position as the stock steering wheel?

Stock is telescopic and height adjustable.

Question should be: "What is the diameter compared to stock?"

i thought of doing this but not so soon.

give it some time man....soon everyone will start rockin aftermarket wheels and quick releases. you might be a pioneer for the FA/FG's. everyone is gonna duplicate what the older civics are doing but not for another couple years maybe. it's the honda life cycle man.

it's just like the old civics 96-00, they had cruise control options on the steering wheel but people still put aftermarket wheels on it.

and like someone here (forget his SN) who rocked low offset wheels on a hatch like 3-4 years ago. everyone knocked him for it....now look, everyone is running low offset wheels.

soon all Si's will be gutted and have aftermarket seats and everything.

also, one last thing, a quick release will not stop theives...I'm proof. My DC2 was taken from me and the steering wheel was sitting in my living room.

Well my question was what i asked....if i wanted to know the diameter of the new steering wheel then i would have asked that

Yes a little bit because of the quick release... i like the position a lot more than what it was stock.

Maybe you should read all of the post, like the one that says it is stock sized. I see no reason for a smaller wheel.. the size fits the car perfect.
