i have a 92 si i dont know should i keep the d16z6 or swap it with b18c1 or a h22a4. Its going to be a dd car. I just got the ride and i dont know where to start, should i work on the suspension first or the engine first. Plz give me some advice. ty
it depends on how much you are looking to spend!!! there are many way's other than just the h22 or b18c1.. you could get a b18b and run that for a little while then get a b16 or b18c "vtec" head.. or just put a b16a that is allot better than that d16.
depends on what your goals are. but for daily driving you don't need all that power as of yet. i'd say go suspension first since thats what you feel most. but if u do go down the swap road, i'd say go h22 or b18c1 depending on how much you have to spend. but the bar'ed road is a long one.
yah i think i should stick with suspension first. Well truly i want to be a sleeper. hahaha.
thanks for the info guys.

B20Vtec/LSVtec are not options in California if you are looking to pass BAR. A turbo can be an option, but the CARB legal kits are all very expensive. There are probably people on here that could somehow get the BAR hookup and pass a turbo car.
OP: Like most have said, you can always build your D16z6 for boost and go that route. The same amount of money you would spend on the B18c1 can be put into the D16 w/ turbo and put out more whp than the GSR for the price. Ask yourself how much money you are willing to spend and what your goals are. If it were up to me I would start with suspension and security first until I researched alot and my mind was made up

Yah i really need my security first tho i dun even have an alarm system. Well am looking forward to spend bout 4 g for a b18c1 all motor upgrade. But my d16z6 has 220,000 miles on it. that alot it. Turbo well yah i can do that but turbo it up would be not much of a sleeper haha. Thanks for the info guys.
If it's a DD, then why don't you just keep the Z6 and have fun with it? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that motor and with I/H/E you can easily keep up with B16 hatches. Have fun instead of spending money.
i have bought four b20's from this guys on ebay they are located in cali shipping is real cheap

You wont pass BAR with the following...
1. I/H w/ no CARB sticker and no cat
2. No EVAP components (some people have been known to sneak by)
3. CRVtec or LSVtec (or any block mated with a different head ie. B18c1 block w/ B16/Type-R head)
4. Turbo motor with no CARB sticker
5. CEL on of any sort
6. JDM motor alone (you can swap on USDM components and pass though)
7. Motor from an earlier year than your cars year (check the head for the stamp)
and the list goes on... Cali is not fun in terms of smog/BAR
I would build the D16z6 and find a CARB certified turbo kit like Greddy/Edlebrock or swap in a B18c1 or you can go the B18b1-T route with a CARB cert. turbo kit.
