i need to order that tool because its a PITA getting it out most of the time. honda is tight with their tools unless your a ASE certified and work for them.

you need to go to a hardware store and invest in a 1/4inch punch.

if you put a bolt in there, it will have way to much slop in the shifter, and it definitly wont feel "good"

I just use an air hammer with the normal tapered end... two quick blasts and its 75% of the way out. then just use a bolt and hammer to tap it the rest of the way out.

Dig around through your bolt pile a find an 8mm bolt (12mm head), make that your punch. Perfect fit, AC compressor bolts work great.

i always use a phillips screw bit, the ones that are like 3 inches long with a small head that fits inside the bitch pin. also the trick is to use a heavy hammer. i use my 5lb and with two

1/4" non-tapered punch + 5-10lb mini-sledge has always worked for me. If you're using a carpenters hammer (especially on a pin that's never been removed), that could be a problem.

8mm punch and 2.5 lb hammer.......or break out the air chisel and send the pin flying.

only met ONE bitch pin that couldn't be removed......so we blue torched the shift shaft and replaced the shaft and seal.

sometimes people have trouble because their car is on jackstands and you cant get a good swing at it.

no excuse..... you could use a hydrolic jack and the punch or whatever you have that fits in there, jack the punch into the hole.... it will budge... you dont always gotta be slaming **** around to get it apart. (although ive never done this i do think it would work quite well)

i 110% built my car on jack stands, and have probably done 75 tranny swaps on jack stands.......thats not an acceptable excuse

i think most people try to use a pointed object to hit the pin out which just spreads it open and makes it more of a pain in the ***.
