Fuel Filter
I have a 97 Honda Civic Ex and im having problems when it comes to take offs. I assumed that loss of power when i take off from a light isnt that great as it once was before... Now I looked at a couple of things that may cause this lag. I did a fuel injection clean and it helped for awhile but went back to normal lag. Now im wondering.. the fuel filter needs to be changed also.. couild this be the cause of the lag?? i realy want better take off... It lags and then it starts gaining speed. My mods on the car is simple. I have a d16y8 with cold air intake and 2.5 inch piping with a Tanabe exhaust.. Is there any advice anyone can give me on improving take off???
Having torque usually helps that problem, and a fuel filter isn't gonna give you that. That filter should have been replaced with the injector service, who services only part of the fuel system anyways....

It will give you a few more ponies high on the rpm band but you actually lose bottom end torque with these mods. He was concerned because he doesent have any bottom end torque(assuming hes talking about the 1500 to 4000 rpm range.
Now if he wanted to get more torque he could have some head work(mild porting on the intake and exhaust sides) and match it up with a decent header setup.( i forget which one gives you more torque but the different size primary runners plays an important role.) And throw a k+n stock airbox filter in there and see alot of improvement high and low end(the cone filters in the engine bay with no heat shield kill performance.)
I'd opt for the turbo.
Theres absolutely no need for 2.5 cat back unless you have a nice turbo setup or a seriously modded engine i.e. compression ratio, cams, etc....
You need to maintain a certain amount of back pressure to keep the scavenging properties in the cylinder efficient, 2 big of piping = less pressure.
Its basic reciprocating engine science dude!

Actually, if you buy quality products you will gain HP/TQ on the low powerband also.. I gain all of my HP/TQ gains at 4,500RPMs with my K&N cold air intake. Now, if you buy a short ram intake, yes, you'll lose lower end power.

Yeah I had a short ram one on my civic.
I actually felt some low end torque when I installed an AEM power pulley set.
I agree with the wasting money thing.
My 69 bug is a 1915cc turbo. Its really the only way to go on small displacement.
