So the time has come to see how my engine will manage an E-test.
What are the odds I'm going to pass? Post your predictions...
I'm sure most people here are familiar with my mod list but here are the highlights:
- Pro-1 cams
- 11.8CR
- Spoon Header
- Mugen intake
- Mugen TL exhaust
- OE cat (installed for E-test)
- Hondata S300
- RC440 injectors

if you have working stock cat. you 'll most likely to pass the E test.
CTR pistons (12.5)
M22XX
310CC injectors
i failed once .only because of my fluctuating idle..
went back after i adjusted the idle.
i passed no problem
the readings were close to zero. ran VERY clean.
PS: my car was too low to get on to roller. so we had to perform 2 speed test or something.
one was idle test and other one was @ 3000 rpm or so.

depends on where you are and what the emission laws are.
Around here, OBD2 cars have to be readable by OBD2 scanner. Hondata is not OBD2. Instant fail.
There are work arounds though.
If it's a simple sniffer test at idle, if it's tuned well then you should pass.
If it's a sniffer test on rollers you may have a problem.
It's all up to the quality of the tune in the low load areas.

I've modified my stock cat to bolt up.

I passed my emissions test this morning.
There is a funny loop whole in Ontario that I’m not sure gets exploited very often. People should take note!! If your car has been lowered or if it simply does not clear the dyno (i.e. in my case the spoon header would be crushed) then you can have your car tested using a 2 speed idle test.
This only involves placing the sniffer in the exhaust pipe and letting the car idle for one test and holding the revs to 2500RPM in the second test.
My car passed this test with ease. The guys at the garage where very surprised and thought something was wrong when they were listening to the car idle…

Nice loophole
.
We used to have that here in BC but they changed the ruling for 2007. Any 1998(OBD2) vehicle and newer receives a OBD2 scan which requires the stock ECU to be in place. Grrrrr.
. Not too many motor builds out there that will run on the stock ECU
. This has made me think twice about building my motor up.

glad to hear.
same loop hole we had in illinois for a long time. (only idle test though)
Thankfully here OBD1 testing is gone.
(the car is tested only if sold)
OBD2 cars is a scan and gas cap test only.
white rocket: if there is a will to pass emissions there is always a way. No matter how wild the build.
