Hard to shift when shifting WOT @ redline?
I recently had a 90k service and they replaced my clutch slave cylinder. I haven't really driven it hard and have been away on vacation... but when I got back I decided to open her up.
I found that the tranny will "lock" me out for like 1-3 seconds when I shift at redline in any gear before I can slip the shifter into the next gear.
Any normal day-to-day driving in most of the other RPM ranges seem fine. Any idea why this is? Clutch pushrod needs adjustment? Or could it be a bad clutch/flywheel (I'm hoping it's not this... I put a new clutch/flywheel around 60k).

does the clutch pedal feel soft or really low to the floor? first thing I would do is rebleed the clutch system. maybe your clutch is just worn out? could be synchros too but I doubt it if you say it happens in any gear at high RPM.

Nope it doesn't feel soft... doesn't feel low to the floor either. Only thing that seems a bit off is that the engagement point seems slightly higher.
Could my clutch be worn out so fast? And since it seems high RPM related, any chance the flywheel might be involved?

Wide open throttle.

I concur.

flywheel is involved in starting the car and rotating weight. and I guess of course the clutch mount itself and contact for the clutch disk. but I think if it was flywheel related then you would experience it always not just high RPM.

thats what i'm hoping it is... the pushrod. what do you mean by "L > R"?

I only say that is because by your description is sounds like the clutch in on the brink of engaging. If you're going to try it I'd go no more then 1/4-1/2 a turn each time.

Sorry I should have been more clear w/my question... I thought the pushrod only went in-out / cw-ccw? What do you mean by L > R?
I brought it into the shop... they said they don't really know whats wrong... might be my clutch?
Anyway they re-adjusted the pushrod. They said they didnt want to adjust too much since "normal" driving seemed fine and they didnt want to mess that up too.
I pulled out of the shop and normal shifting was still fine... but once again I floored it and had trouble shifting near redline.
I think I'll try messing w/the pushrod myself. It looks like a pretty cramped space to work with.
Based on my issues... would you suggest I extend the pushrod (CCW) or shorten it (CW)? I'm assuming shortening it is screwing the pushrod IN and lengthening is UNscrewing it out.

i sometimes have the same problem. no matter how hard i push the clutch in, it won't engage above 7000 rpms. it happens about 10% of the time, mostly when i'm trying to show off!

solid mounts and stiffer shift bushings made me miss shifts all the time. so I removed the shifter bushings and its back to normal.

is the push rod on the back of the clutch pedal? mines doing the same thing when you try to shift fast.. picked up a new clutch and will give that a go.. my pedal is also geting quite high to engage but still copes with hard shifting and drag racing.. i think the type r stock clutch's seem to hold up pretty well.. hope the new one fixes the mis shifting at high rpm. usually when you shift quickly. i think its something about the clutch not being able to keep up? weak pressure plate?
