I have seen some on e-bay, actually for about 1500 to 2000 mostly for B series engines though

Yeah, I think if you're looking into spending that much money on your D-Series and you haven't gone full-race all-motor, then you should more likely think about using that money for other things, like F/I, or suspension. Those would only be my suggestions to you though.

ITBs won't help you much unless you have a full blown race motor.

Start with cam 'n such first.

You'd probably wanna start by rebuilding the block w/ forged internals so you can look into getting a higher redline. After that with head work (valve springs, retainers, keepers, valves, 3 angle valve job, etc.) you can look for a higher redline, but the block has to be prepped first.

Remember, HP = torque * RPM / 5250 - eliminate the 5250 and u got the basis of HP = torque * RPM - raise the RPM and you THEORETICALLY raise your HP - but won't, you won't raise it until you have a more aggressive cam in there on a good tune and better flowing manifolds..
