ebay intake kit. Please respond ASAP
I've been told by a lot of users on HT that using a generic Ebay intake pipe, with a K&N filter will do just about the same as a name brand intake kit.
Does this look legit?

Of course, I would get a K&N filter to put on it. Should I buy this ebay kit?

Touche'.
But why are some pipes long and squigilly, while some others are short with only one bend point in them??
Also, will a k&n filter fit on a generic pipe?

Yeah that intake kit seems legit. Go for it. Then go out and get a K&N filter for yourself and put that on, it'll be better than the one that comes in the kit. And a K&N will fit on a generic pipe for sure.

So any model of a K&N filter fill fit a generic pipe?
I am asking because when you go to the k&n website, it makes you fill out all the specs of your car, but it says it doesnt make air filters for 98 accord LX.
Can I just buy any model and have it fit the generic pipe?

No, there are many different sizes, since the piping is usually a little different between manufacturers. I suggest you wait for it to arrive than measure the inlit and then proceed from there
Oh yeah I forgot to mention you can probably just ask the company that your buying it from the size and diameter of the piping but it may just be safer to wait and measure it yourself.

Well now I'm looking at this ebay kit.

If I purchased this, I would already have the KN filter. I'm just hesitant because I don't know too much about CAI. Do CAI have a beefier, throaty noise that some SRI have?

Looks good to me, as long as your not in Cali there should be no issues, people somtimes forget that certain states require the intake to have a CARB certification but it may just be a California requirement. You would probably notice the sound more on the short ram since it sits closer (not really sure) I have an AEM SRI that sounds louder than the generic cold air I used to have. The cold air intake will net you slightly more gains due to the fact that it sits outside the hot engine bay.
Just go with it. Alot of people use them, it's just the ones who want Mugen or Comptech or something and want to fight over every last .2 whp
I bought that exact intake from that seller, its pretty good. You'll need to buy one extra ring clamp but thats all, shipping was fast and the guy responded quickly to any emails. Quality of the filter is good and the thickness of the pipe is decent too. I'm still using the filter it came with but I'd go with a K&N, I just haven't bothered since I'm being lazy. All you need is a 3 inch cone filter to put on the end of that pipe, I think the reason you're going into specific models and stuff on the site is because you're looking at the oem replacement filters which go in the stock airboxes.
Edit: I was talking about the intake from the first link. I've never dealed with the seller from the second link but I hear those K&Ns they include with the intakes on ebay are usually knock offs.

I'm not sure if this is the same deal as I expirienced with my eBay intake but here's what happened. I bought the intake on eBay. Once I got it, it was a brand called Option Racing. Now my friend ordered an intake from eBay as well, but a different seller and he also recieved one by Option Racing. I looked at the packaging and realized that my eBay seller had never even TOUCHED this box and simply told the company to send the intake to me. I noticed the return address was Option Racing and it was sent directly to me. So, what you may want to do it completely forget eBay and just go straight to Option Racing, if it's cheaper...
