Default Seat Bag Warning Light

It came on this week. Is it a typical computer glitch? Car is in perfect shape otherwise, and I bought it new in Greenwich CT in August 2004.

Could be a seat belt buckle failure. If it's the seat belt, Honda will replace it at no charge.

My SRS Light came on this month too. 2001 Civic EX, people have been complaining about not being able to buckle reliably on my passenger side.

Sound like your problem Bob?

I've had no complaints, but my car is still under the 3-year new car warranty. I'll take it in to the local Honda dealer larer this week or next. Thanks for the info. My sense is that it's a computer glitch. All seat belts seem to be working fine. The air bags have never been deployed, however. It is definitely the Supplemental SRS
indicator light.

Both my seat belts seemed to be fine when my SRS came on. Turns out it was the driver's side belt buckle. As far as I could tell it still functioned properly.

maybe the seat belt tensioner went bad and needs replacing. have you been in an accident? or have you unplugged your SRS plug?

I got a same problem. Dealer said I have to pay $270 for buckle replacement. The item is not covered by Honda care. Is it a true?

Update: I lucked out. Car is under warranty until next month. Took it to the local dealer today. They investigated, and wll replace the SRS mechanism (under the center of the steering wheel) that controls the inflation of the air bags. That's what caused the warning to light up. They're putting it in on Friday. No charge.
