i need advice.
i switched out the head on my d16a6, drove it for a short while, and then the enigne died in a unexciting sputter. i took it to a local mechanic, he pulled the spark plugs out, and the spark plug for the 1st cylinder, broke off. when he got the spark plug out, the plug was destroyed. i went to the shop, looked in the cylinder hole, and i could see damage to the piston.
the mechanic told me that "a valve dropped" and that it would be stupid to try to repair the engine, and that i should just buy a new one.
how much damage could have actually happened to the block. i still have the original head, and im hoping i can just replace the pistons, flush everything, and swap the old head back on.
if anyone has any insight at all, let me know.

the issue is money. later on down the road i will have the money, but as for right now, i jsut need a way to get to work. would a d15 swap be cheaper than new pistons?
It depends. If you do the swap yourself, and finda local d15 for anwyehre from 25-125 bucks it will be cheaper.
Paying someone else to do the motor rebuild will cost more and it will take alot more time.
I alwayd kept a d15 laying around just in case, and its come in handy a few times.
