Default Replacing Stock Antenna 3rd gen

My antenna crapped out on me (stays stuck all the way up) and I am trying to remove the old antenna from the antenna tube.

I followed instructions from the helms but can't seem to get the antenna mast out from the tube. (both pieces are out of the car right now)

Anybody have ideas/experience?

someone started closing the garage door with the remote as I was pulling out, bent the antenna. Is your motor still working? If it is this is what I had to do.
1. make sure the antenna is up.
2. remove the screw with the cross on it.
3. pull the antenna mast out, I had to really reef on it for it to come out.
4. start feeding the new one in by pushing the white thing with the teeth in until you feel a little resistance.
5. have someone turn off your radio (you can also use your remote if you have one)
6. put the screw back on.

I've decided on doing the s2k antenna conversion because the stock antenna mast is US 55 from the stealership.

Thanks for your replies
