1997 Civic EX: Engine?
Even if it doesn't say Vtec on the head? (me and my friend have been debating on this matter for quite some time now lol)

Ok than I must lay down a couple of smacks across his face lol. Just because he doesn't see that it says Vtec on the head and he doesn't hear it kick in like he did on his 02 Accord (which said Vtec on the head) So after how many RPM's does the Vtec kick on my 97 Ex?

Look at the valve cover from the front of the car. To the left upper corner there will be a little soda can shaped thing. That's the VTEC solenoid.

Also to the left and down from the header is the engine stamp with the serial and engine code. The big font is the engine code, it should read d16y8.

Rip the cover off, show him the 4th and 5th 'vtec' lobes on your camshaft, then make him show you his girlfriend's 'vtec lobes'. Don't forget to show her your camshaft too...
