I have a 90 Accord......the fuel pump seems to work when it wants to....I was wondering if anyone else has had the problem and the easiest way around it....garage tells me the pump is bad....but...why would it turn back on....when it runs it runs fine.....u just have to catch it at a good time in order for it to start....i ran it for a while and it went fine with a few times of the pump not coming on.....is there a relay that could be screwed up? Or can i hard wire the fuel pump to a toggle....and where are the wires? Uder the car....or under the carpet....or can i get to them from under the dash easier. Any information would be appreciated.....im trying to sell the car...so i dont want to spend a whole lot....not many people want to pay alot for these n e more......THANKS

 

check your main relay....or if your lazy kick underneith your steering wheel when it wont come on then try to start it...main relays do the same thing that you posted about

 

Alright, this is what i have.....i hotwired the pump and nothing...then i checked spark...and it wasnt sparking....i know when it will start because the check engine light will flash and then go off and u will hear the pump come on for a sec....when it doesnt start u will hear no pump and the light will stay on....if i keep switching it off and on for a while it sometimes will work....but no guarentee....is there a relay that controls the pump and the spark?....where exactly is it located (what does it look like)....and does it sound like that to u....seems like thats what it would be to me....but i need to know which one....thanks!

 

your main relay is out like post above says.
location is under dash on left side above fues box \
its a gray retangel box with a brown plug

fix ither buy new one or just remove your old one and pop it open resauder(spelling sucks sorry) the joints on the board and reinstall

 

i looked under the dash and i couldnt find it.....where is it hiding??? I looked all around in there.....more of a knuckle buster then anything....am i going to have to pull a bunch of stuff out to find it???

 

its a grey or Ive also seen black box.....in your case most likely grey(my brothers was gray it was a 90 also) I recall it being a pain in the **** to get out you need a 8 mm socket and it's hidden underneith a whole bunch of crap on the side closer to the hood latch than any thing..on my CD5 its in the middle on yours I remember it being to the left per say facing foward...that last post confomed it's your main relay in my opinion.....not a big deal hope fully someone else can chime in with better location description or schematics but I hope this helps
