Default BA8 to H22A

i'm looking at buying a 1993 BA8 prelude, i know these arent v-tech but i can get for a crazy price so i cant really pass it up. Don't flame me for asking this but if i was to get my hands on a H22A engine with the ecu, intake and exhaust manifold, wire and loom. Could a transplant be done ?

The faq's at the top of the prelude forum will answer all of your questions. It a very easy swap But with that F series tranny it wont be as nice if you were to get a H series tranny, your best bet would be to get a h22 trans and you will be much happier with it. The gears are longer in the F series transmissions so it doesnt accelerate as well as it would with a h23 trans or even better with the h22 trans just my word of advice take it or leave it and good luck

so i'm guessing it doesn't take a lot more work to put a different tranny in ?

at the point where you're replacing the engine, no, it doesn't take much to put another tranny in.

personally, i've got an h23, and i'm leaning towards getting a F transmission, just b/c i don't like such high rpms when i'm crusing at 80-85.

but on another note, i believe that '93 was the first year that the h22 was offered in the prelude. if you just want the h22 that bad but don't want to mess w/ swapping the engine, wait for a little while and look around and i'm sure you can find a 4th gen. vtec

happens all the time. ive done the same swap. bolt on ur car is already prewired for vtec (not v-tech) so thats 1 step u dont havta do the only other main step is changing out the injectors and rail. putting the h22 injectors on the h23 rail so you dont have to make a new fuel line. a great! place to get the motor from is hmotorsonline.com i bought the complete swap kit just for the hell of it there good and repitable check them out and if u have more question simply ask away.

Buy:
Motor + Tranny + ECU
water pump
timing belt
manual tensioner parts
dizzy rotor
spark plugs
spark plug wires
fuel filter
oil filter
all new fluids

Do:
change water pump convert to manual tensioner install new timing belt. check clutch while motor is out. install new motor and tranny. switch ecus, hook up the vtec wires on solenoid and oil pressure switch. take the injectors off the h22 rail and put on your fuel rail. replace fuel filter (double check f22 rail and h22 can be interchanged) change the rotor on the dizzy and put in new plugs and wires. changing all those parts allows you to use the HMO warranty in case u get a rare "bad" motor from HMO. fill all fluids and try to fire it up.
tip: while motors out pull the iacv fitv and egr systems and clean them out including the egr ports on the IM

that was a real quick summary if i forgot something let me know

always change the pump and belt while the motors out just to be safe. and when i say manual tensioner i mean the tensioner for the timing belt not manual transmission. the car has a auto tensioner which tightens the timing belt but its been prone to fail so its smart to convert to the h23 manual tensioner less to worry about down the road.
