Default More problems with the swap!!!

Earlier today I was putting in my axles for the B16a. They came with the complete swap from jdmHondaParts.com. I have a 90 civic DX HB.

It seems that the axle doesnt fit right (passenger side). It fits nicely into the tranny then I put it all back together and put the spindal nut on and it takes a ton of force to turn the wheel (it seems that the axle is to long)

Another promblem I am having with this is that the wheel doesnt turn freely It seems that the ball joint is bad but it was just replaced and never driven on.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of intermediate shaft do you have? If you have a 90-93 intermediate shaft, you should use the same year of axles...check out http://www.hasport.com for additional info on axles. Also, make sure you take the dust ring off the axles for a better fit...

I have the SiR axles (I think I forgot to mention that, sorry) Shouldnt these work with the B16a intermediate shaft and the ring still on??

That sucks. What would be the point in sending out the SiR ones if they wont work. I wouldnt think JDMHondaParts.com would do that. Now I'm thinking they may have sent the integra ones since I asked for axles that would work for the swap. I'm gonna have to drop them a call then on monday to see what axles I have. Oh well, the swap is postponed a couple more days

They usually ship the motor with whatever axles it came with...but talk to Sheng, I believe he owns JDMhondaparts and he gave me a break a few times on my orders, I'm sure he'll extend the same courtesy to you.

I'll give Sheng a call on monday to see what's going on. I just dont understand why these axles dont fit right.

Hasport says "If you have the intermediate shaft from the 89-91 SiR, you will need 89-91 SiR axles. The SiR axles can be constructed by using 86-89 Integra axles with 90-93 integra inner CV joints".

Since I have the SiR axles already they should be fine I'm wondering if JdmHondaParts may have shipped the wrong ones some how.

Thanks for the help everyone

I have the same tranny....Just get a 90-93 teg axles and intermediate shafts, for less than $200, you'll be rollin in no time. Try posting a wanted ad on the classified section of this site and check it out. I bought a pair of brand new axles last month for $125 shipped. Just installed em over the weekend and they're perfect. i'd stay away from used ones because I tried to save money and got one from a junkyard. Although they gave me a 6 month warranty, the labor and grease that went all over my under chassis is not worth it.

That's sh#$&^%tty, Yo!

I haven't even put the engine in yet, and the last thing I wanted problems with was the stinkin' axles - THAT'S WHY I bought SiR axles, etc. (www.hondamotorsonline.com). I also have Y1 from CRX (eng. is 5 million series) with LSD. I read all that crap on the HASport site long before I ordered anything.

ANYONE USING THE SiR AXLES ?????????

Steering wheel or the one with a tire? With LSD it will be hard to turn the wheel on the car, hell I even torqued my lugs a couple of times with the car in the air before I thought about what it was doing to the diff

I have the SiR ones for the same reason, they were supposed to work. I just got off the phone with jdmHondaParts and the mechanic told me that I need to buy the 89 integra ones. I never heard of these being used, but they have some in stock at the parts store across the street from my house so I'll go compare mine and theirs to see if their just a bit shorter. If the 89's dont work, then its the 90-93 axles/intermediate.
-I never thought that the axles would have been the problem when doing this swap

are you positive you took off the dust cover on the inside of the hub and also the rubber ring thats on the axle itself , i tried to just remove the dust cover on the hub and when i tightened the hub bolt it was still tight but when i removed the rubber ring on the axle the axles fit fine .

I definately did that. There is nothing else to take off the hub and the dust cover/ring I also took off. It is still about 3/4 in to long. I went under the car to make sure it was all the in the transfer case/tranny, and it is. I stopped by the local pepboys with the axles I have and compared them to the 90-93 axles for a integra. I bought the passenger side and put it on. It seems to fot perfect. I'm now wondering if I have the intermediate shaft of an integra already on there. We'll soon find out once I put together the driver side.

OK, I just put the drivers side together. It fit PERFECT. JDMHondaParts sent me the wrong axles for the passenger side. It seems as thought the integra one fits in perfect so that is what is in there now. I beleive the axle problem is solved (other than I need a new lower ball joint before I bolt everything back together. Thanks for everyones help
