^^^ that's a good link. So when you say ek, you mean a hatchback, correct? And you could put all of those motors you mentioned in your civic. But instead of explaing the very minute details and write a page on them, read around this site and see what people have done. Tons of reading. A b16 isn't the most powerful motor but if you do it yourself, you can rely on yourself and gain experience experience is valuable, and eventually the more you learn, the more you do, and will build off of what you know/learn. A stock b series is not fast, complaints with low end power or torque. But it has an incredible amount of potential, especially when you throw a turbo into the equation. What are you looking to do with your car, and what kind of budget are you on? Give us some questions, we'll answer them.

Killa and Boost have given you some good advice/help. May I also suggest that since you own a 00 Ek and are a resident of Cali, that you find a motor that is from 00 and that it is the USDM version. This will help you along your way to becoming "legal" by BAR standards in Cali. Once you do some research you will find what motor best suits your daily/financial needs.

IMO if I were to drop a motor into an 00 ek, I would go for something like a B18B1 OBDII motor (LS) or a B18C1 OBDII (USDM GSR). Like everyone said, its about what you are looking to do with your car and what your budget allows you to do. GL
