Default Snapped stud replacement?

What is the way to go about a snapped stud on the front right of a 1990 4 door civic (ef)?

Do I have to pull the hub off of the car to replace it? Or would it be easier to just buy a hub from a scrap yard and do a quick replacement? I was told that maybe I couldbang it out straight and bang in a new stud.

Thanks in advanced!

MiKe

you have to remove the hub, press it out with an arbor press or shop press, and then press the new one in. atleast thats what I did for a buddy, hope i didnt remove it for no reason, lol

can you not just knock it out with a hammer and slide a new one in and pull it through with a lug nut? i know its a little crude but in a pinch i dont see why you couldnt. unless theres not enough room to get the old one out and the new one in behind the hub.

I thought the guy on 4thgenhatch replaced his by this method, but he had to cut the dust shield for the rotor....... I could be completely wrong though.

here we go remove wheel and find a slide hammer. remove axle nut with an impact gun. it maybe a 32 or 34 mm , attach the slide hammer adapter to ur hub and secure the adapter tight . now pound away at the slide hammer until the hub comes off. Grab ur regular hammer remove the broken stud, insert the new stud into position and hammer it back in. next step is to center the hub back into its position and carefully tap it into the bearing. u should now be able to install the axle nut. again use the impact gun to tighten the nut which will pull the hub into position and ur done ,oh by the stake the axle nut
