this happened to me twice already

i would start the car, the idle would jump to about 2k

the oil lamp would turn on, and the idle drops to 0 until it finally dies

afterwards, i would have to keep trying to start the car until finally it starts and is ok

oil level is still perfect and still looks clean

If the oil light is on in ur car that's not good. Change the oil/filter, could be ur filter is clogged, or worse, ur oil pickup line's clogged. It's hard to say, but try to change ur filter first and oil. Try searching i'm sure u'll find lots good info in other ppl's threads too.

 

sounds more like the oil light is a coincidence and the main relay is going out....its located under the driver's side dash above and behind the fuse box....might test that, its a single component with two seperate relays in it.

 

awesome, i didnt think anything was wrong with the oil line

B17lives, have you encountered this problem before or heard of main relays going bad? is there anything else i should be looking out for?i just want to make sure that it is the problem, im going to check it tomorrow morning.
