Bye-Bye CRX
I woke up around 6:45am on July 5th and found my beloved CRX 5 feet from where it was parked with a huge hit right on the back. Apparently some drunk driver hit her between 4:00am to 6:45. The jacked up part is that I live in a neighborhood where theres not a lot of traffic that goes through except for the people that live there. There's a good chance that my some of my "neighbors" are involved or know something.
The damage looks real bad and I only have liabilty. Instead of fixing her up I have decided to part her out. My question to everyone is that if I do part her out and what's left is a basically a stripped out shell, how do I dispose of it? Would salvage yards buy it off me? I wouldn't mind not getting paid for a shell but I really don't want to pay a couple of hundred bucks to have a salvage yard take it off my hands. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

There are usually places you can call thatll give you between 50-200 bucks even if the cars stripped. The steel frame is worth recycling money atleast. You might have to call a few places, just dont mention the cars stripped, they might be pissed off when they come out, or refuse to take it, but youll find someone who'll do it eventually.
I had to pay $20 to have my local yard come out and pick it up. It was only a shell though. They would of paid me a couple hundred bucks if I hadn't stripped it.
All the yards around me wanted me to pay them $20-$25 for my CRX just cause it was missing the tranny.
So i kept it and made $1200 parting it out.
Then paid $40 for it to get towed away.

I work at a junk yard/recycling center. A full car gets paid usually about 110 bucks. a Bare shell, should get about 50. 30 minimum. That is where I work though, just saying.
I paid $60 to have my 97 Hatch shell hauled away. It was basically stripped but had good glass front, back and quarters, had the full dash and odds and ends still there.

I'll try to put up pics soon but I have to upload it through photobucket or something. It was hit pretty bad to a point where I don't even want to open the hatch because it might not close and I still need to drive it once in a while.
I want to strip out the whole interior since I know how rare good condition interiors are for EF's and the b16 itself is worth at least $1,300. I'll go ask around how much to haul away a shell cost. I'm crossing my fingers cause I doubt it its going to be as cheap as you guys paid for cause I live in San Francisco where an Arby's combo meal costs 10 bucks.

Haha I love CRX's, but I don't think I want to do that anymore. It's just not that practical and I need something that sits at least 4 people. As much as I want to get an EF hatchback, I know its going to be a pain in the *** with all the body work up keep, rust, buying replacement parts and all the problems that comes with buying a car thats more than 15 years old.
