Default SWAP ?'s: b16b jdm ctr

i have a 2000 civic cx hatchback.

im swapping a b16b into the hatchback

i have a jdm b16b ecu and a 2000 usdm civic si ecu.

will a 2000 civic si engine harness work with either of the ecu's?

If the ECU is OBD2B. If not you'll need a conversion harness.

yes they will since your using a 2000 civic Si harness although check to see if the CTR ecu is from a 98 or 99, if its from a 98 it might not fit since its a obd2a

i believe the ctr ecu is 2000. the motor is from year 2000.

the usdm si ecu is a p2t not a p28

also ive been told that if i use a 2000 usdm civic si engine harness..ill get codes? such as vtec and maybe some more because my hatchback in cabin harness is a single overhead cam harness..not a dohc.

so is it true ill get codes?

i know that the 2000 civic si engine harness is going to be plug and play. im just hearing from people that ill get codes for vtec and such.

but im going to use the 2000 si engine harness...now should i use the 00 si ecu or the jdm ctr ecu?

also...........i had the engine to where it should START but not run properly. bought the motor from h motors, seems like the engine has been sitting for a while. im having a really hard time starting her up. i bought some of that "engine start" from autozone..which ill be using soon. but should i have a hard time starting it without the help of the engine start spray?

I would use the CTR ECU because the maps are designed to maximize the performance of the CTR (fuel curve, ignition, redline, etc.). Definitely use the SI harness because it is totally plug and play, you won't need to add or even lengthen wires to fit the B16B. I think you will have an extra plug for the vtec solenoid and MAYBE a crankshaft fluctuation sensor plug, but if you use the CTR ecu it won't be looking for those. The only way it would give you codes is if you hooked it up wrong or if it is damaged, or use the USDM SI ECU on the B16B.

Your dash harness wont affect your swap. That's a bunch of garbage. All the 2000 civics use the same dash harness. The only difference would be in accessories such as power mirrors, sunroof, etc, none of which have anything to do with the ECU. In fact, I'm almost sure the SI and the EX use the same dash AND engine harnesses, its just that the EX harness might be a little shorter in places.

Good Luck!

i fired her up today, she idles prefect.

im going to use a 00 si harness. but the thing is..what do i do about the secondary o2 sensor? (the sensor right below the shifter)

im getting codes too..ill post the codes on the morning.

vtec isnt cracking...why? (using the si engine harness with either of the ecu's)

I don't understand the question about the secondary O2 sensor. Could you elaborate/be more specific? Are you waiting until the car is at normal operating temp before trying to hit vtec? VTEC will only work if ECT(engine coolant temp) and IAT(Intake Air Temp.) readings are within certain parameters (basically normal operating temp).

I'm pretty positive vtec won't work with the USDM ecu b/c the solenoids on the B16B and A2 are different.

yeah i figured. about the o2 sensor, ill ask my boss about that.

anyway, i have her running with the jdm ecu, vtec cracking at 6500, redlining at almost 9...(i cant tell becaue my tach doesnt read that far )

now all im scared of are those PO PO's and their damn ref tickets! i will bar the car soon. hopefully i dont get pulled over before the bar'ing.
