ok so i am trying to do a swap for a friend it's a H2B Qurtersports kit with innovative mounts. and the engine side mount is not lineing up. It's got me all confused im starting to think it's the unibody. well as soon as i figure out how to post pic's i will

you should post a bigger pic

 

why dont you just try a regular b series mount and see if it bolts up remember try using a dc mount hope it helps out

the mount is just off that is how the engine wants to sit.

 

make sure you smashed the frame rail enough to clear the crank pulley and the timing belt cover, where the balance shaft gear is. if not the engine can't be pushed back enough.

see how much i pounded mine in and towards the firewall

 

bashed it enough and cut the pulley so it clears.


balance shafts are eliminated
just have the right mount is just drilled in the wrong place.

my buddy called seth at quartersports got a hold of him yesterday...sent pics...now cant get a hold of in 4 attemps.

still wished i lived in nor.cal

i dont remember having to drill mines.

 

from quartersports...seems like the template of how they drilled the mount is not correct. like they drilled the 3 holes in the wrong spot

I can assure you the holes were nor are they in the wrong place. We do not use a template, those pieces are laser cut and assembled in a jig.

You sent a couple other pictures not shown here. One where the rear L bracket is not lined up with the rear mount. We are wondering how this is... since the fact that the tranny is not relocating, why would your rear mount that sits in the OEM postion not be inline?

From what I see the issue possible lies around the mount not shown on the trans side.

 

In this pic, that timing belt has a large gap between it and the shock tower.


Compared too (it's an EG, just w/ a EK front) ...

 

You can also get the idea from this pic...



The mount is slightly off centered from the bracket.




This is way too much, something possible on the other end is ****-eying the engine/trans.

 

the pics i sent you where the back mount is not lining up is when the engine side mount and trans mount are in the position. Right now the back mount and tranny mount a centered perfect and the timing side mount is off.

this is what happens when i put the tranny mount in and the timing side mount it's crooked.

but if i put the back L bracket on and the tranny side mount on they are perfect but the timing side will not line up.

see now the rear mount is lined up but the timing side dose not.

 

now looking at the other pic's makes me think the tranny mount is off. It seems like the tranny is to far forward. So when i try to line everything up it makes the engine crooked. Are there different innovative mount's that could position the tranny to far forward maby we have the wrong one. Im no noob at this i did my first B16 swap into a Crx in 1998 and have since built 4 300-400hp hondas and now i build 500-600hp DSM's. I even built a 400hp 89 prelude with the old bastard B20 but this has me all confused.

 

try bolting up your tranny mount & timing side mount first, don't tighten the L-bracket onto the tranny yet. when your mounts are bolted on (don't tighten it all the way), use a breaker bar or something to tilt the engine forward so the L-bracket bolts will line up. remember the motor is going to sit tilted forward. worked like a charm for me and i did the whole swap by myself.

True don't bolt them down so that if you need to tilt the engine you could.

 

same thing happen to me bro, i had a bent L bracket. it looked normal but when i compared it side to side my bracket was some how bent. try inspecting the rear L bracket, i think thats the problem. qsd

 

but if i put the timing side mount on and the tranny side i can't get the bolt through the holes the mounts are not straight.

 

a BIG pry bar is very handy when doing swaps especially when you have aftermarket motor mounts.

are yall going to get the framed straightened then? or just trash it?


thats odd that a frame would be twisted that much...

 

it's going to the body shop to try and get it fixed.

Hey, why would the thread need to be deleted? so that noone else can read up on it and help them figure their problems out? leave it here for other people to learn from. do i even have to say, "duh"?
