Si beating an STI?!
I raced an 07 sti last night. This is the most shocking thing ever!!!
He had me all through 3rd, going into 4th, I slowly catch him up and ended up pulling him by 1/2 a car. The guy seemed to be shifting pretty quick too so I have my fingers crossed that it wasnt a bad drivers race! Let me live happy!!!
My mods: INJEN CAI, DCRH, reflash.
The STI: he said stock.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.........
I know on roll races with AWD cars it closes the performance gap.....but Im not sure on a STI. I know its really possible with a reg. WRX. They only put down like 180whp stock like us. The AWD is what makes them fast off the line.

i see a hint of doubt there. you do know that the STI from the factory runs a mid 13 with a low tank and can pull a sub 2.0 60 foot both w/ Chris Burke driving?

You're on a good start. I think you could get a stock WRX because they're not that fast, but an STi, I'd really have to say driver error, or he wasn't really putting all in. They should be a full second faster in the 1/4 than you.

Exactly my thoughts. STI's put down in the neighborhood of 250whp. Its kinda hard to mess up a roll race to let you make up that 50whp difference.

Yea that thread where I bitched a fit, I bitched a fit because the guy raced a WRX from a standstill, but we don't have too many details about this one

He let off the gas and cruised while you started pulling on him because he was off the throttle.

I recently raced an STi from a stop light. I was pleasanltly surprised that he only got about a half car jump on me and I was inching on him until about 100mph.
The difference; however, is I'm supercharged.
Not to flame, but I honestly think the STi you raced a) was not driving hard or b) wasn't a good driver.
Either way, a win is a win... So congrats.
Take it to the track though. /hypocrite

Just cause we drive an r18, doesn't mean we don't know how to drive or had no experience in anything faster than r18.
I say you got lucky, or he thought he had already beat you after 3rd gear.
But never the less, get a STI kill sticker and slap it on! hehe

people can bust on this guy all day long...but i had a very similar experience, when my car had about 500 miles on it. I raced an STi (looked completely stock) till about 115 and had him by about .5 a car. maybe he was an awful driver...but i was shocked, of course none of my friends believed me.
