Starter Problems-Searched
I have a 90 crx si with 200K+ miles on it. Completly stock.
I have had it for about 3 weeks. I could tell something was going bad because everytime I started the car it would turn over but not very strong. Almost like I had a dead battery. I drive the crx and park, come out the next day, try and start it-nothing.
Won't even crank. I hear the fuel pump kick on, but I still tested another main relay that works.
I did some research on here and assumed it was the starter. I had a buddy of mine push me to roll start it, popped it into gear and it started right up. Parked it, turn the car off, tried to start it again-nothing.
I took the starter off, went to O'reilies, matched my starter up with the brand new one, took it home, installed the new one, wired up, went to start it-nothing--not any cranking or anything. All the lights turn on, radio works, double checked all the fuses.
I then try to manually jump the starter and all I get is a solid click, but it still won't turn over.
What could it be?

Battery. It sounds as if the battery don't have enough juice left to bump over the start enough.
Hook up jumper box or cables to another car -and then try to start.

I did exactly that, from my Acura to the Crx.
I guess there is a possibility that the jumper cables don't work. They are pretty old.
I don't have my multimeter with me, to test the battery.

Bought new jumper cables, and a multimeter.
The battery is good and I was charging it with my Acura.
I tried again to manually jump the stater and it still would not pop over.
I am going to take it off and return it!

I went back to the parts store to order another stater, and they showed me a starter that didn't look like my starter that I took off, and the one I bought from them the first time?
What is going on with O'rilies?

O'reillies is trying to sell me the Mits starter when I keep on telling them that it is the Nippon starter that came off my crx.
That is the one I took off and that is the one I want to put back on.
I went down the street to the place that rebuilds starters and alts.
They had the Nippon one in stock and it was $10 cheaper.

You have to watch your local auto parts stores. They don't really know that much when it comes to stuff like that. If their computers shut down they wouldn't know **** about anything. Apparently, you will sometimes get someone who knows their stuff but not the majority of the time.
