Default 04 Hybrid problem

Hi all,

I have an '04 Civic Hybrid with the CVT and 74,000 miles. When I come to a complete stop, and step on the gas to get the car moving again, I feel a rumble/grinding noise from the passenger's side of the car, as though the passenger's side was over rumble strips or rough pavement. It varies in intensity with how hard I step on the accelerator. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks!

Grayson

I'm probably the only guy of 250 thousand members on HT who actually owns a hybrd.

But, im unsure what it can be. I have a manual. I would get it checked out at a dealership. Is it still covered under a warrenty? CVT's are tricky.

I'm actually about 90% sure it's the CVT. Unfortunately, my car is no longer under warranty at 74,000 miles, but since there's a TSB about this I'm hoping they'll flush it anyway.

Thanks!

Either a electric motor issue, axel/bearing related or CVT.

Keep up updated man, we need more archived hybrid related help!

CVT oil like the DPSF oil suffers from water\condensation contamination
Needs to be changed to the updated oil , may need more than 1 flush depending how bad the vibration is

We have been burnishing the start clutches for this symptom in the past but have recently been replacing the start clutches altogether. I recommend visiting your local dealership. Be nice and they will probably fix the car for free for you.
