What do you like and dislike about the EP3???
Alright guys... Let em rip. I wanna know all the little quirks and hidden secret pleasures about your EP3 Civics.
I have only driven one but I am thinking about buying one. My only thing so far is that the stereo controls are kind of pushed over to the side.

biggest dislike- lack of power, although in day-to-day driving it doesn't feel too bad, mainly because of decent low-end torque, at least for a Honda!
biggest like- uniqueness!! I love getting that "what the heck is that" look from other drivers...with a few simple, effective mods the EP can really stand out...
this is what has kept me an EP owner for the last 4-1/2 years, everytime I think about getting rid of it, it always comes back to this...
that's my .02, hope it helps a little...

Ditto on the lack of power. It's entirely usable the way it is, though.
I'll also add the front suspension design. It's got its benefits in packaging and crash safety, but it's just not great when it comes to high-demand handling (track, auto-x, etc). The TSX is a better handler than either the EP3 or RSX.
I like everything else, though.

I drove an EP3 for 3 years and i loved every minute of it. It was unique, fun to drive, LOVED the shifter, had and absolute blast.
Then I got a Type-S DC5 and I realized what an absolute slouch the civic was. Although I had fun at the time, I now realize the car is ugly, underpowered and has more body roll than my fat aunt from canada.
Also - Be prepared when you drive an EP3 for people to shout at you "Hey, I like your hybrid!"

I don't mind that so much. I'm still too nervous to see whether the cops who watch the HOV lanes realize that it isn't a hybrid (hybrid drivers can drive without a passenger in those lanes
).

what the hell. ep3's look nice with some minor exterior mods, imo rivaling the rsx's

The car being disgusting, focus looking you say, and em1's being "sick" is completely your opinion. But line up an em1 and an ep3 and tell me which one wins.
I really enjoy my ep, I do dislike the fact that it was given an a3 but it could be worse. The front suspension is gay but you can work around that. With a little money and work an ep will surpass any usdm civic before it with the exact same mods.
And remember a3's may be underpowered, but they respond really well to bolt ons and handle boost decent.

Hmm, how about only let EP3 owners answer this on guys? (Read madtown ep3's sig)
Love: It's looks, especially with the CTR spoiler. It gets you into the K series (a or a2 swaps are easier). The rally shifter. It will be weird driving my EG in the winter. The interior is very nice too. The seats are pretty supportive and don't budge when pushed back. They are very rare and people don't know what they are usually. I don't know who said it can't handle, but mine with D spec's and matching springs, some ebay strutbars (Megan), and Neo Gens hit 0.95g on my meter. 0.88g without any tires squeal when they were almost new. Also, it's probably because D spec's are very stiff, but I experience very little bodyroll, even without the swaybar at all it's not that bad (broke an endlink and I just ordered a 27.5mm Tanabe front swaybar too, can't wait.)
Dislike: Parts are more expensive than most Honda's, the a3, and people's stupid comments I receive sometimes. Most people like it but some HATE it and they will let you know right away.
It's a love it or hate it car. I hated it before I drove it.

in all honesty i think the ep will be a sought after car in 5 years or so, i remember people used to hate on del sols now theyre hard to find and every one loves them, i think they will grow on people over time and once k series are more abundant they will be the OG civic like the crx or eg.

Even outside of the enthusiast scene, EP3s will be sought after on the used car market.
(posted this elsewhere, but I'll say it again.. lol)
Civic hatchbacks have always sold very quickly on the used car market. They deliver what many used car buyers want -- reliable & fun utility. Plenty of space, easy to drive, and won't leave you stranded.
The EP3, remember, is going to be the ONLY Civic hatchback sold in the US during this entire decade. There's the Fit, yes, but it's still pretty new here and hasn't really hit the used car market. Plus -- and this is mostly my opinion -- 4-door minicars still aren't as sporty.

you forgot... Fit "Sport" = 109hp, 1.5-liter
but whats that mean in torque... maybe 65-70lbs of torque?

MODDED... almost 150HP!!!
no comparison between fit/ep3...
1's a grocery getter, the other's a FAST grocery getter!
if you really want a Grocery Getter.. get the Element-D

(D- for Drift... about 500HP!
RWD!
)
IF YOU Get what you want, then beef it up!
you'll be happy!
