Default H22 Swap Issues

Recently Swapped a H22 into my 91 Accord:

More Info:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2038986

Problems I'm having:
1. Speedo doesn't work, does anyone know why? It worked before the swap.

2. When Motor is running and not moving she begins to overheat, but will cool down when driving (as long as I'm moving)...No Thermostat, New radiator, new water pump, new hoses...Any Ideas?

3. Slight Hestitation at low RPMs, I believe this is the O2 or knock sensor.

4. This one is minor, but still bugs me... my clock stopped working, every once in a while it'll turn on, then turn off..... The funny thing is that usually when the clock turns on is when the check engine light turns off, but not all the time....

Can anyone help with the speedo issue I'm having?

1) Speed sensor hooked up?

2) Is your fan turning on?

1. Yes, I speed sensor is connected. Is the speed sensor pin the same on the Accord ECU vs the Prelude ECU.

2. Yes Fan Turns on, though i have another fan & radiator, i'm gonna replace them with this weekend, just to see if there is a difference.

Put the thermostat in, you arent giving the coolant enough time in the radiator to cool off.

your an idoit, theres a reason why cars have thermostats. an H22 isnt like a civic or an integra, these motors produce alot of heat, and the cooling systems are very insufficent to begin with. A civic is less likly to over heat because they dont run as hot as an H22.

ok, my bad.. I do admit this is my first H motor... all the others have been D series..

first thing tomorrow morning, I'm gonna pick up a new thermostat.

BTW.. I have another radiator fan from another accord (same year, but wagon)...

ALSO I removed the thermostat because she WAS overheating... and would not cool down.. now without the thermostat, she only overheats when i run the car, if i drive normal she doesn't overheat (but I'm only driving to work and back...20 miles)... when she starts to overheat, its usually because the car is sitting in one spot.. when i keep the car moving she's cools down...

if I put the thermostat in it should stop overheating, right?
if i put the another fan in that i have, would that also help to keep it cooler?

any opinions about the speedo?

when you remove the thermostat from a car, the coolant constantly flows through the rad and the block. Normally the thermostat will open and close so that when the coolant gets too hot its open to cool the block, then closes again so the fan can pull the heat from the coolant. When you drive the car, the wind passing though the rad acts like the fan and cools down the coolant, thats why it doesnt over heat when you drive the car.

Throw in a thermostat and make sure that both fans are coming on, and are cycling properly. If they dont come on, check the physical fan, wiring, fan switch, etc etc

BTW... my car's beening running almost 2 yrs without a thermostat....

u don't need a thermostat... it just takes longer for the motor to warm up, which at the track is no problem...
