emission for zc!!
i'm wondering if a jdm (d16a6) can pass emission test without the egr valve but with stock piping and apexi catback in califonia?? and does a bad dizzy sensor (TDC) makes your car failed on the emission??bump people!! thanks for help in the advance?!
i am pretty sure that if your car throws a code at anytime during the smog test you fail. And i was kinda curious about the sohc zc non vtec passing too because i just did the swap into my 88 crx dx, but havent had to smog it yet.
Sorry for asking this in your thread but does anybody know if they give you crap about a mpfi swap from dpfi. Just curious.

nice, but well,so is it like if i dont have any code but with no egr valve i still stand a chance??because my head didnt coome with egr valve and i cant put on on due to the hole is not there no more!!
i know that the requirements to pass the smog with an engine swap is that you need all original smog equipment (including an egr if your car came with one), but if you can get away with them not noticing an engine swap then you should be good. Because the sohc zc looks just like your stock motor i am assuming unless you didnt have mpfi.
thanks bro,but yea by the way i have a si so yea. it's mpfi and damn last night i was driving someone's dpfi dx and i couldn't catch up with my own si,damn, a big different!!
oh yea...by the way do you know anything about cel 8,whichs TDC in distributor??i look up mine and there wasno shaft play in there and im throwing that code and over all my mpg is down but overall my distributor looks al right..!!

a bad TDC will throw a code which will in turn make you legally fail pretty much anywhere, not just in California.

relax and do some searching, you'll learn as you go.
it's painless i promise.

first i dont hate but no1 reply ever, second i really new to honda, third I replace the ignitor and i check the shaft play in the dizzy and still throwing a code but my car over all runs fine,i would earn if you know and tell..dude
check the wiring on the dist, wiring harness and see if the signal is getting to the ecu. i believe code 8 is a white wire but there are two white wires. so it could of switched at some point. are you using the stock dist?
Which is it a JDM D16ZC or a usdm D16A6
Neither came with an EGR valve.
You have to have a working check engine light without codes to pass the legal way.
What dizzy are you using. and ECU?
We can't answer if we don't have the facts/spec's. So go easy Life is to short.

i dont think im using a stock distributor but this distributor came with the car and due to new for honda, the guy make up a story for check engine light.i will try to switch those two wires and see!!
when i first bought the car a mpfi civic si, it came with code 8 and sometimes throwing a code 15,im using a obd0 si distributor and oem si ecu,due to the fact that i try to fix it i found out i have msd coil, not the stock coil and i swapped a DX ignitor in there because i try to fix code 15 and it really works,i guess(because 15 doesn't come on all the time),so right now i have 8 to get rid of and i checked the bearing it was good and i replace the o ring and i made sure the star on the shaft has no contact with the sensor!!and my car is burning a lot of fuel!!
I actually used to work at emissions not to long ago. I don't think you'll pass I tested a rex with a zc in it and it failed. And if it failed in Washington it's gonna fail in California because CA is a lot harsher in emissions.
ricerboy it all depends ,not all the zc swap cars are the same.my si doesnt come with egr and i have most of my stock part in my car,it was a direct swap!!
