Default Short Ram Intake for rsx-s Question.

So i bought a short ram intake for my rsx-s, its a knock off intake i got from my buddy. my vtec is louder now, but my RPM's climb so slow now, and its a dramatic change, in which makes my car slower. with my stock intake on, i beat my buddys b16 hatch, but with this short ram intake on, he beats me now. im thinkin its because the intake goes back in which sucks in hot air. maybe gettin a K&N air filter? Or maybe ill just buy a true cold air intake? anybody ever have this problem? thankss guys!

quite possible that ur sucking in alot of warm air and it can be bad filter and all that depends and how everything is with the intake obviously but if its slowing u down u could try a k&n filter or i would just go either back to stock and get a new air filter for ur stock box or like u said go with a cai

bad filter maybe... or the fact that its an ebay kinda thing .. buy a name brand or keep the pipe and get a velosity stack to go on it and go form there.. that should help more than anything ..

like he said
it could be a crappy filter or its an install error
make sure you have the intake bolted airtight at the throttle body and where the filter connects to the pipe

So many things could cause this, if you can post some pics or specs it'll help. I'd suspect the ECU is pulling the timing due to heat soak (the IAT could also be damaged). Did you clean or replace the filter element?

There's some eBay knockoff stuff that's actually pretty decent. I know over at the Celica forums they've been using AEM eBay knockoffs no problem and it's pretty much EXACTLY the same thing--minus the AEM sticker.

I've always been under the impression that SRI's are pretty much a waste unless you're JUST looking to beef up the sound of your car. I'd vote getting a CAI and fabbing up some kind of water shield for your wheel well. I've been running that for the past 3 years no problem.

Your probably not getting enough water through the intake, try pouring a gallon or so of water on the filter while its running. After that you should prolly be beatin turbo b16 hatch's.

Try getting a K&N or also look into getting the AEM V2. I love that intake and it's much safer and easier to maintain/put on then CAI. (I'm not knocking CAI's just not for me.)

This entire thread is kinda...well...

Point is, don't put cheap ebay parts on your car.
