Default lower balljoint

okay on 90-97 i don't see why there isn't a tutorial for this.. but anyhow... i don't get a few things.. do i need to take off the whole knuckle or just axle/tierod/

okay how do i exactly take off the lowerballjoitn from knuckle. we got the c-clip out and everything.. hammer it in.. hit the studs.. the jooint flexes 2 much... even tried hitting the the knuckle.. i know its not taper fit.. so whats the best way removing the joint out of the knuckle.. don't say take it to machine shop or use a press.. what if theres none around.. i want to learn...

also how do u get it to sit right in.. nice and tight without pressing it.. do u hit the top of the joint until it sits firmly into knuckle.. plrease help.. i want alot of opinions..

then u press it back in wiht a ball joint press which u can rent from autozone. its like a big *** c-clamp with special attachments.

you should be able to use the ball joint press to press it out as well if it comes with the right attachments.

use a socket and put it over the bolt that sticks out and hit the socket instead of the balljoint bolt. and like everyone else said rent a balljoint press it will make things alot easier.

a rubber mallet wont work. i tried that and got just about nowhere. if you cant get a hold of one you got to be creative and make your own tool. what i did was got a steering wheel puller triangle piece and stuck 2 long bolts through it and then put sockets over it and tightened the sockets down with 2 nuts and i had a little fork thing. so then i got a c-clamp and put my fork contraption thing on one end and the flat end on another that way i could press the balljoint in. a 2inch socket would probably work to with a c-clamp.

if you can't get the ball joint press tool you could try using sockets and a vice if the vice will open far enough to fit everything between the jaws.
