Default steering linkage broke

i was leaving my neighborhood and turning the corner and all of a sudden my steering wheel just kept turning and it sounded like a grinding and i couldnt steer at all. i had to hand turn the wheels and push the car back to my garage... i went under the dash to check it out and the bottom of the joint where it goes into the firewall is stripped... i tried tightening it but it wont hold... i think the threads are stripped... what do i do? please help me i need my car to steer!

you need to take both the upper and the lower linkages for it to slip out, then play with it, it will vend a little and come off....make sure your wheels are straight and on the ground and center the steering wheel before installing a new one or you will have problems...I centered my steering wheel and taped it to the dash to keep it from turning while installing the yoke...
