Default OEM Ported IM vs Euro R IM dyno testing

like it states, im getting on the dyno again soon to get NepTune squared away and was wondering if there are any small tests you guys would like me to do.

I'm already planning on retesting the BPi flowstack since i cant get my dyno graphs from the previous dyno i did it on....*******...

i'm not going to do any big testing like headers or intake manifolds unless the guy is cool with me taking all that time and only charges me for the time just on the dyno.

Small things that you have always wondered if they work...thats what im aiming for.

so if there is anything you can think of let me know and i'll see what i can do.

Something small eh? How about a SRI vs CAI dyno just for the hell of it. People from both sides always argue which is better for what. There might a be dyno like that on here but I only ***** the lude forums and I ain't seen it. But you did say something small....

hmmm, i could do that. Just gotta find someone local with a CAI.

i could test the flowstack on both intakes as well.

i cant do that test because the s2k throttle doesnt have a fast idle and i already have the coolant bypassed at the thermostat.

good one tho.

I might be interesting to see if how much the PS pump drags. That would be a real fast to take the PS belt off or maybe just loosen it, provided you still have PS. Thanks for adding to the knowledge base either way.

how about the "unplugging your fuel pressure regulator vac line" mod

lol just kidding

fwiw the coolant bypass mod would take a while to show gains, you'd have to get the tb real hot then cool it bigtime.

I say try using vtec and see if that makes any difference.

or in the shop for that matter.

Would be interesting to see results though.

I've always wondered what people though that was suppose to do, my engine came with it plugged and when I plug it back to the FPR I didn't notice any differance in AFR or any thing from the butt dyno, all I can see it doing it maybe helping top end a tiny bit.

Blake, you could maybe try making a makeshift cooling plate for the rad and see if that helps any, or see if there are any power gains between:

non protected intake pipe
pipe wrapped in heat wrap
a real heatshield that blocks the pipe from the engine

but that would take some prep work before hand

H22 vs K24. Same car, same day, same dyno and make sure not to change the strap tension between runs

gotta make sure that both of those runs are done with gears of the same ratio. i noticed that some k series dynos are done in their 3rd or 4th gear, which have 1.517 and 1.147 ratios, respectively. meanwhile, out h22s are usually dynod in either 1.360 (3rd) or 1.071 (4th). dynoing in a higher gear usually inflates the numbers, doesnt it?

No, it is actually the opposite. Dynoing in higher gears usually "deflates" the number. You are suppose dyno where ration is as close to 1.00 as possible.

And I agree that you should dyno with the heat wrap on the intake .

It really shouldn't unless Dynojets don't actually use the spark pickup for anything but torque. That would be sketchy though.
Of course, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest otherwise.

But yeah, he should build a custom transmission with the same gear ratios as well, good idea

CAI vs HAI vs TB only pipe length would be interesting to see. Exhaust/dropped exhaust, since you're catted (right?).

40* advance vs 20* advance at 7k rpm (ducks to avoid explosion )

a cooling plate isnt going to do much good when im stationary, sitting inside a warehouse.

I can tell you if a wrapped intake is better just by datalogging the IAT's.

I'd send you a Euro-R to try if you felt like messing with it, no biggie if you don't.

I really want to see a meth injection setup on an n/a car though... its all my friend has been talking about lately
